Sprint Accessibility Unveils the New and Improved Sprint IP Relay Mobile App

By Michelle Vicino, Kristine Shipley and Barbara Garcia

As the sole provider of IP Relay, Sprint Accessibility has launched an amazing new app for people who are Deaf, DeafBlind, Hard of Hearing or have a Speech disability.  Now, IP callers will have the freedom to make or receive phone calls from virtually anywhere within the U.S. and its territories where there is an internet or mobile connection.

Here’s how it works! The caller types what they want to say to the operator, then the operator relays (or voices) the message to their caller and types their response back to the relay user…..all from their mobile device*!

The app offers all of the things that our Relay customers have grown accustomed to; like the ability to copy/paste and save conversations, change font size/colors and background colors as well as access their devices contact list.  On top of all that, Sprint Accessibility has added some new cool features to make the app more accessible to the DeafBlind community. One of the best capabilities of this new app is that it allows people who are DeafBlind to go into Settings to acknowledge that he/she is a Braille user.  This new feature will allow the DeafBlind user to easily read and respond to the conversation from their braille display.  Another new feature allows the user to register, verify their identity and obtain a Sprint IP 10-digit number directly from the app.  It is now all incorporated into the app itself.  Truly a one-stop-shop solution!
